Global Higher Education Alliance

The Global Higher Education Alliance (GHEA) is a network of accredited higher education institutions that realize that to remain competitive in today's distance education marketplace, they MUST:

  • be designed for fast change
  • have architecture quite different from the traditional campus
  • explore new ways of doing business
  • have agile networks that share compentencies so that they can seize new opportunities
  • understand that change is a constant process-not a problem...in fact is a continuous source of competitive opportunity

Benefits

The benefits to the membership are based on the "win-win-win-win" formula.

1) Some of the individual member colleges and universities win by licensing some of their courses to the Course Bank and thereby receiving an additional cash flow;

2) Some of the member institutions win by leasing courses from the Course Bank thereby save a great deal of development money, while significantly enriching their program options through expanding their courses, diplomas, certificates, and degrees.

3) The Alliance partners with other Course Banks thereby adding to the depth and breath of the available offerings.

4) All member institutions win by reducing their expenses through using the Bid List of products and services from business partners.

GHEA helps institutions develop and grow their distance education offerings and therefore their revenue through a unique combination of IntraSourcing (services provided from member institutions through the GHEA to the other member institutions).

Using IntraSourcing, GHEA member schools, colleges, and universities leverage their strengths to the advantage of the full Alliance through placing specific courses into the GHEA Course Bank. Other member institutions license the courses in the Course Bank thereby being able to grow faster and advance further than could be accomplished alone.

The growth is facilitated by a mutual commitment and a shared strategy to and from each member institution. The GHEA member institutions provide a powerful and diverse learning array of courses and programs, certificates and degrees, some in languages other than English.

New Revenue Stream

Member institutions can increase their revenue stream through licensing courses, programs, and in some cases their faculty, to the GHEA Course Bank. GHEA in turn leases them to other member institutions. As institutions lease courses from the GHEA Course Bank the institution licensing the materials receives an agreed upon amount of money. As a result of this program, the institution licensing courses to the Course Bank has the potential for significant additional revenue for work that they have paid for previously.

Course Development Savings

Course and Program development can be very costly. Some courses can cost over $45,000 to create using the best practices and technology available. Many institutions do not have the money, and most of the faculty do not have the extra time, or in may cases the knowledge, to create excellent online courses. By leasing courses from the Course Bank the member institution saves a great deal of money, the professors save their time, while significantly enriching their program options through expanding their courses, diplomas, certificates, and degrees. Institutions that license courses from the Course Bank save a great deal of development money, while significantly enriching their program options through expanding their courses, diplomas, certificates, and degrees.

Other Course Banks

The Alliance partners with other Course Banks there by adding to the depth and breath of the available offerings bringing even greater opportunity to our GHEA members.

Products and Service Providers

At present most private colleges and universities pay the “retail” price for the products and services they need.  In this area private institutions are at a disadvantage from the public institutions because governmental education organizations can purchase products and services from business partners that have provided lower prices based on a bid process through the State or Federal Government.

GHEA also assists the member institutions in reducing their expenses through SmartSourcing. In the SmartSourcing, GHEA bids products and services from business partners in a way similar to governmental education organizations. Businesses, in may cases, give better pricing to a larger base of students, staff, and faculty. Through this program, GHEA, member institutions save more money on needed products and services than they would by themselves.

GHEA secures bids for such products as:

  • computer hardware
  • computer software
  • textbooks
  • online services

GHEA assists members with such services as:

  • student management
  • placement activities
  • placing emerging technologies in courses
  • library and information resources
  • instructional design
  • institutional evaluations
  • marketing & advertising
  • faculty training and development
  • website & course platform hosting

The list of both products and services will continue to grow in the future.
